I am Kelly, the Dyslexia Pathfinder and author of this blog. I’m on a personal mission. My struggles with dyslexia in school have shaped my journey into this role. I’m driven by the desire to ensure my dyslexic children do not face the same challenges I did. I intimately understand the hurdles you and your child are up against, and I’m here to be your guide, offering my empathy and understanding every step of the way.
We all recognize the critical role of early reading intervention. If your child didn’t receive this, I want to reassure you that there are still options and time to get your elementary, middle, high schoolers, and college students reading. There is hope, and I’m here to help you navigate this path, providing reassurance and possibilities.
Over the years, I’ve steered my own children’s educational journeys through dyslexia, spanning public schools, four dyslexic schools, three parochial schools, and one dyslexic boarding school. This experience has been a rich source of learning, and I’m eager to share my insights with you.
By following along with my blog and content, I hope you can make informed, cost-effective decisions when selecting the right school for your child’s education. I understand what it takes to educate a child with dyslexia. Early direct reading instruction with fidelity and a master-level teacher can prevent the need for costly interventions later in life. Dyslexia is a lifelong journey, but reading intervention doesn’t have to be.
If you are about to embark on this journey as a parent and are looking for guidance in picking a school, support, or just a phone call with someone with 23 years of combined experience navigating private dyslexia education, I am here to help. I am someone who understands the challenges of advocating for children with dyslexia, ADHD (other health issues), Lyme, and PANS. I am passionate about helping other parents find the best dyslexia school for their children and when it’s time to get creative and look at alternatives. I want to help you make informed decisions to support your child and yourself without worrying late into the night and being taken advantage of. I will help point you and your student towards the right school. Dyslexia most often comes with other co-morbidities. You need to know that dyslexia schools are not a one-size-fits-all shop.
"Dyslexia is a lifetime, but reading intervention should not be."

It is essential to choose the appropriate educational environment for a child with dyslexia to ensure their academic and personal development. Public schools say they support students with learning differences, but with the war on reading many of us strongly disagree. So families prefer private dyslexic schools that offer tailored programs and personalized attention. However, financing private education can be a significant challenge. In this blog post, I explore strategies to help families pay for private dyslexic schools. These strategies include financial aid options provided by schools, loans specifically designed for elementary to high schools, and the potential benefits of a 529 plan.
